Google started the project of self driving car in 2009 . And in year 2016 this project became WAYMO. Waymo is self driving technology and autonomous car development company. Waymo also a parent company of Google and Alphabet.
Google's self driving car project lead by Sebastian Thrun with the team of 15 engineers. In 2014 google has revealed new concept of driverless car , A car which does not have steering , break pedal. And in 2015 the project completed its first ride on road without driver.
In December 2016 google renamed this project to Waymo and works on his seprate division. Waymo team has different number of cars with self driving equipment. Google robotics car have $150,000 in equipment includes $70,000 LIDAR sysytem. This car have rangefinder which is mounted on the top called Velodyne 64-beam laser. This laser make a 3D map of its environmnt. This car used combination of 3D generated map & high resolution map of the world and produce various data models that drive the car itself.

In 2017, waymo announced a partnership with Intel to develope autonomous technology together and develop best processer,
On November 7,2017 waymo test the driverless car without safety driver .Google's vehicle traveled in San Francisco through city traffic also over the lake Tahoe to Golden Gate Bridge.
In 2012, Sergey Brin (Founder if Google) declaired the car will be available for public in 2017, But in 2014 the director of this project Chris Urmson schedule release from 2017 to 2020.
