Apple working on a project named as 'STAR'. This project is under development. This device is a hybrid computer with LTE capabilities. This project is currently at the prototype stage. This prototype is manufactured by Pegatron and reached to Cupertino for testing.
This hybrid computer is powered by ARM processor (Advanced RISC Machine). An ARM processor is family of CPUs based on the reduced instruction set computer. This project support 4G LTE with SIM card slot, GPS and water resistance. According to report, this device has the ability to connect to external keyboards and also this device will boost touch capabilities.
The interesting part is to see that hybrid system would run since macOS supports x86 processor. from reporting it also claimed that Apple is working on bringing mac ecosystem closer to iOS. This device can be the first to run a hybrid macOS and iOS operating system. For that, we have to wait till 2020 for this device.
Since, This is significant step for Apple to move towards the ARM-based device. Recent- reports also say that Apple was making moves to reduce this reliance by potentially also using inhouse chipsets.
Apple is hosting annual developer conference at the start of next month, During this, it's expected that CEO Tim Cook is talking about the new version of their operating system.
